FULL SCALE ROTORCRAFT ENGINE NACELLE
FIRE SIMULATOR
This fire simulator is designed to simulate forward flight flow conditions of over 120 kts air speed within the engine nacelle. This apparatus has been previously used to evaluate Halon 1301, HFC-125, as well as Solid Propellant Gas Generators (SPGG).
This simulator is a high fidelity replica of a rotorcraft engine nacelle and is divided into two sections; an engine element and nacelle casing.

-
The engine core is complete with: - clutter arrangements, - heating elements, and - engine exhaust nozzles.
-
The nacelle casing includes:
- upper & lower vent inlets, and - a transmission inlet.
-
This fire simulator is a robust test apparatus, ideal for fire detection evaluations, suppressant delivery and transport studies, and computational modeling validation studies.
