RADIANT
HEAT SOURCE

Engineering & Scientific Innovations medium temperature Radiant Heat Source consists of quartz halogen bulbs that have been designed and fabricated for thermal damage studies.

The image on the right displays a partially assembled multi-lamp array capable of holding, cooling and energizing several bulbs simultaneously.

Each bulb is rated 820W and requires thermal management which is provided an external air supply.

The temperature field below the quartz halogen test apparatus was recorded using an array of thermocouples.

The maximum temperature of the glass enclosure of the bulbs were recorded and found to be at 425°C +/- 25°C.

The following are characteristics for a single bulb in steady state:

  • Each lamp has an illuminance of 4,500 lumen/m²

  • Steady state in approximately 700 millisec
