OPEN JET SUBSONIC ACOUSTIC

TEST SECTION (OJATS)

This facility is configured as an open jet wind tunnel which is operated in a suction mode. In the current arrangement air is delivered through a 3’x3’ square nozzle into a relatively large acoustically isolated test volume. Air speeds up to 60 MPH with less than 0.5% turbulent Intensity and low noise are currently available.

  • This acoustic section/chamber is 12’x12’ in cross section and 26’ in length.

  • For heavy loads the acoustically treated floor can be easily removed.

  • An overhead gantry extends the full width and length of the test, and holds a computer controlled traversing system.

  • Larger nozzles have been designed and can be also be accommodated.
